𝗟𝗲𝘁 𝗢𝗽𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸 – 𝗨𝗣𝗡𝗗

You cannot shut people from speaking, so let them speak, UPND National Youth Chairperson, Gilbert Liswaniso has advised the Zambia Police Service.

Liswaniso said it was President Hakainde Hichilema’s desire for all citizens to freely express themselves.

To that end, Liswaniso has urged the police to let the opposition parties have their meetings if procedure for such gatherings is followed.

“President Hichilema has given space to everyone to speak freely without being harassed, and you cannot shut people from talking so let them speak,” Liswaniso said.

Having assured that freedom of expression under the new dawn administration would be guaranteed, Liswaniso said priests or the opposition should have the space to speak.

He said opposition parties were part of the governance system by offering checks and balances to the ruling party.

He added that the role of the clergy in the country’s development was important because they spoke to the masses in their churches.

Therefore, Catholic priests or any member of the clergy should be free to express themselves on national matters without being curtailed.

Liswaniso has, however, urged the clergy to be truthful and give credit where it is due.

He was speaking on 5FM’s Burning Issue program this morning.
