Two people have died in a road crash that occurred this morning at Musanya area, some 54Km north of Chinsali district on the Great North Road.
The driver, Geoffrey Mulambia aged 32, has been โdetained for causing death by dangerousโ.
According to Muchinga Province Police Deputy Commissioner Lucky Buumba Munkondya, the accident happened when the driver crashed into a stationary truck that broke down.
She attributes the crash to over speeding.
Three passengers were aboard the south bound In Transit vehicle.
One of the passengers is 58-year-old Joseph Mwamba of Seed Farm in Chinsali who died on the spot while the other is a five-year-old girl named Nelie Muzah of Kitwe โwho sustained head injuries and died upon arrival at Isoka district hospitalโ.
Mrs Munkondya says driver has been treated as an outpatient.
A 30-year-old woman identified as Jacqueline Muzah is receiving treatment at the hospital in Isoka.
