Twelve suspects have been formally charged with the murder of Hellen Kamutumbe in the Kisasa area of Kalumbila District.
Police Public Relations Officer Godfrey Chilabi has confirmed the development, stating that the suspects are among those earlier apprehended by law enforcement officers in connection with the incident.
Mr. Chilabi further disclosed that 22 other suspects have been charged with riotous behaviour, while 25 individuals have been released following investigations.
He added that 257 suspects are still in police custody as investigations continue.
Speaking in a telephone interview with ZNBC News in Solwezi, Mr. Chilabi said the screening process has not yet been concluded, and police investigations into the matter remain ongoing.
He emphasised that law enforcement officers are working to ensure that all individuals involved are thoroughly investigated and brought before the courts.
