President Edgar Lungu has announced that 12 cases of Corona Virus have so far been recorded in the country.
Addressing the nation on measures taken to avoid more outbreaks of the Corona Virus the head of state said all bars, restaurants and other public places will close effective Thursday midnight.
“Exactly nine days after the first two covid-19 cases were announced, ten more cases have now been identified bringing the number to twelve. Eleven of them had travelled abroad in recent weeks and acquired the disease from outside the country” he said.
And president Lungu disclosed that government has suspended all non-essential travel more especially to countries which are affected by Covid -19.
He added that measures taken will be in effect midnight of Thursday for a period of 14 days.
“The measures i have just announced shall be effected from midnight on thursday 26th march, 2020 and shall be observed for the initial period of 14 days. However my government shall constantly review these measures depending on how the pandemic evolves” the president announced.
