A 13-year-old girl has allegedly been defiled by her brother in-law, in Ndola on the Copperbelt.

The suspect is currently on the run.

Copperbelt Province Police Commanding Officer, SHARON ZULU says the victim sustained painful genitals and general body pain.

Ms. ZULU says the incident happened when the suspect came back home drunk and went straight to where the girl was sleeping, before dragging her outside.

She says the girl screamed for help and her elder sister rushed to her rescue before she (Girl) ran into the nearby bush.

Ms. ZULU says when the elder sister went back into the house, the suspect followed the girl in the bush, where he defiled her.

Police have since launched investigations to bring the culprit to book.
