A 12 year old girl in Dambwa Site and Service, Livingstone, is reported to have run away from home in fear of her parents after finding out that she was impregnated by a 14 year old boyfriend.
The juvenile went missing last Saturday, February 7, around 16:00 hours, prompting her elder brother, aged 24, to search for her and report a missing child case at Dambwa Central Police Post.
According to Southern Province commanding officer Moono Namalongo, the girl’s elder brother found the girl at the market on Tuesday, seated in one of the shops as if waiting for someone.
He immediately took her to Dambwa Central Police Post and informed their mother that the victim had been found and the mother reported the matter to police.
“She reported on behalf of her juvenile daughter, aged 12 years, who was allegedly sexually abused by a male juvenile, aged 14. The victim is suspected to be one to two months pregnant,” Namalongo said.
The incident is alleged to have occurred between November 2025 and February 10, 2026, at around 11:00 hours, at Dambwa Site and Service Compound, Livingstone District.
When interrogated, the girl narrated that she had been in a relationship with the suspect.
The girl said on February 2, she began experiencing persistent weakness and underwent medical tests, which confirmed her pregnancy.
Out of fear of her parents, she reportedly went to the suspect’s residence on February 7.
Namalongo said a medical report form has been issued. No arrests have been made yet, and investigations are ongoing.
