Seventeen people were arrested in Ndola on 26th April, 2025, for immigration-related offences following an operation conducted by the Regional Immigration Office in Masala, Kopaland, and Chifuba.
Immigration Chief Public Relations Officer, Namati Nshinka, reported that among the arrested individuals were 11 undocumented Tanzanian nationals residing in a single house in Masala.
A 36-year-old Zambian male, Mwila Kapya, along with his Congolese wife and two Congolese nationals claiming Zambian citizenship, was apprehended for obstructing Immigration Officers and harbouring illegal immigrants.
Nshinka stated that Kapya’s wife was found with a Zambian National Registration Card and a Congolese Laissez-Passer.
Additionally, another Zambian was detained at Chifubu Secondary School for allegedly assisting a Congolese national to fraudulently acquire a Zambian National Registration Card.
In a separate operation in Kabwe, 19 refugees, comprising 17 Congolese and 2 Burundians, were relocated to Mayukwayukwa Refugee Settlement after being apprehended for leaving the settlement without mobility passes.
Investigations and prosecutions are ongoing.
