The Lusaka Magistrate’s Court has convicted a 24-year-old man, Maurice Chomba, for the rape and sodomy of his 81-year-old landlord.

The victim testified that the brutal assault left her severely injured, forcing her to wear diapers as she could no longer control her bowels due to muscle damage.

She recounted how the attack was so violent that she nearly lost consciousness.

Delivering judgment, Magistrate Mutinta Mwenya stated that there was overwhelming evidence proving the assault was non-consensual.

The convict has been committed to the High Court for sentencing, where he faces the possibility of a harsh penalty for his actions.
