A WOMAN of Chadiza District in Eastern Province has allegedly been raped and robbed of her mobile phone by an unknown number of men.
According to Provincial Police Commanding Officer Robertson Mweemba, on knocking off from work, the victim decided to gulp some alcoholic beverages.
“The victim reported that she was attacked by unknown number of unknown male person(s) who raped her/sexually abused her and robbed her of a mobile phone Itel big battery black in colour valued at K300,” Mweemba shares adding that the victim was left hurting private parts, and a swollen face, saying an unknown object is believed to have been used to injure her.
He narrates to TV Yatu that, on Friday, around 21:00 hours, the victim decided to grab a few bottles of her favourite alcoholic beverages from a named drinking spot.
Hours after, the victim decided to visit another drinking spot, ‘donkey night club’, the spot she only left at an unknown time, to go home.
On her way home, it is reported that the victim met an unknown number of males who swept her off her feet and took turns in having unlawful carnal knowledge of her.
Mweemba shares that, while the unknown number of males took turns on her, the victim screamed for help but that no one responded.
When they were done, Mweemba narrates that they left the victim in an unconscious state and that she was discovered unconscious in the morning of June 14, at around 05:00 hours.
“She was later picked up by concerned members of the public around 05:00hrs today 14th June, 2026 at Section A Chanida border, where she was found unconscious and took her home where she stays alone,” Mweemba shares.
After taking her home, Mweemba shares that, the victim’s female neighbour took care of her until she regained consciousness and recalled what had happened to her.
He says that the victim later reported the matter to Police who have since opened an inquiry file, and embarked on investigations that may lead to the identification of the suspects.
