A 42-year-old man of Kitwe’s Kawama area has died after falling off a moving truck.
The incident which occurred yesterday around 06:10 hours, along the government road, near the total filling station in Kawama Kitwe Mindolo area, was reported by Kitwe district traffic.
Speaking in a statement made available to YAR FM News, Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer, Peacewell Mweemba, said the accident involved a TATA truck registration number BCB 2241 ZM which was being driven by Brighton Mukolwe of Itimpi Kitwe.
He said the truck had no damages and the driver sustained no injuries.
Mr. Mweemba, said the accident happened when the motor vehicle was moving from West to East direction and when it reached a place near the total filling station, the passenger fell off from the motor vehicle and was pronounced dead at Kitwe teaching hospital.
He has since identified the deceased as George Simwinga of 784 Kawama Kitwe.
Mr. Mweemba, added that the body is in Kitwe teaching hospital mortuary.
