Southern Province Permanent Secretary Namani Monze says with the abuse of alcohol and drugs said to cause 45 percent of mental health problems, Government is taking strategic interventions to ensure mental health challenges receive the needed attention.
A medical doctor himself, Dr Monze said mental disorders affect nearly 20 percent of the world’s population and one out of every four people around the globe will experience mental health challenges in their lives.
“In Zambia, approximately 700,000 persons are estimated to be in need of mental health care.
