77-YEAR-OLD WOMAN DIES IN TRADITIONAL WITCHCRAFT RITUAL

A septugerian in Nakonde, Zambia, has died after she was forced to drink an ancient long concontion to prove her innocence in the death of a relative in the district.
This has led to the arrest of a suspect, who is a witch finder aged 34.
The Septugerian who is a 77-year-old woman died few hours after being made to drink the local concoction.
Selina Siyinga of Kampanda village was being cleansed to allegedly prove her innocence in the misfortune in the family, including mysterious deaths.
She was allegedly taken to the graveyard on December 16 for ritual cleansing where she was made to drink a herbal concoction.
Thereafter Selina Siyinga started complaining about abdominal pains, which allegedly resulted in her death at Chilolwa Urban Clinic.
This is according to Muchinga Province Police Deputy Commissioner Lucky Munkondya Buumba.
In Nakonde which borders Tanzania to the north of Zambia, the traditional practice of finding killers when a relative dies suspiciously is common.
