HOCKEY MEN’S TEAM TO GET WINNING REWARD FROM GOVERNMENT

The national hockey men’s team whose home ground is OYDC Zambia Wednesday morning presented a silver medal to Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts permanent secretary minted in Zimbabwe at the just ended All Africa Games qualifiers.
The team qualified for the 2023 All Africa Games to be staged in Ghana after beating Zimbabwe and Malawi during the qualifiers games in Harare.
The team presented medals to Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts permanent secretary Pastor Kangwa Chileshe at his office.
Chileshe told the team that government through his ministry will reward the hockey players for their exceptional performance in Zimbabwe and ensure that they continue to represent the country at other upcoming games.
He urged the team to remain focused as they start preparing for the All Africa Games set for next year in Ghana.
He added that the media will be present at every games so that they document and report on success stories such as the games they participated in Zimbabwe.
And NOCZ Athletes Commission Chairperson Richard Mulenga told the permanent secretary that a promise was made by his athletes to come back home with medals and subsequently qualify for the 2023 All Africa Games in Ghana. Mulenga indicated that the promise has been fulfilled adding that this is just the beginning and more wins are coming for all sports in Zambia.
Meanwhile, Zambia Hockey Association Board Member and Technical Director Ishmael Mbatata thanked government for promising to reward the athletes.
