*MINISTRY OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND SOCIAL SERVICES TAPS INTO CDF FOR SKILLS DEVELOPMENT*
The Ministry of Community Development and Social Services, says it will take advantage of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to promote and enhace skills development in the country.
Director for Community Development, Ms. Patricia Muyamwa has since appealed to management at various Skills Training Centres under the Ministry, to take advantage of the CDF to improve all the facilities in order to offer quality and valuable skills to communities.
Speaking when she graced the 4th graduation ceremony of the Ngwenya Skills Training Centre in Livingstone, where 64 individuals graduated in various skills, Ms. Muyamwa said skills development is key in supplementing government’s efforts of job creation.
She therefore called for stakeholder support to ensure that the skills centres are viable, by increasing the numbers of student enrollment in order to promote community based skills development which is key in promoting self sustainability.
And Ms. Muyamwa is happy that the skills development agenda resonates well with government’s aspirations to promote equal participation in decision making,leadership, business and national development.
“My department is therefore commited in ensuring that we provide quality skills training that will foster innovation and entrepreneurship to ensure that graduates have relevant and employable skills” Ms Muyamwa further said.
To the graduates, Ms. Muyamwa challenged them to make a positive contribution in their various communities, by uplifting people’s lives as they maintain high levels of competence and diciplicine.
And when she gave a vote of thanks, one of the graduating students,Jessy Mbewe, thanked the Ministry for the life-changing skills and for the curriculum which is practical and rich in content.
She said the skills acquired will help them to contribute positively in society and thanked government for promoting skills development in many sectors.
