Vedanta Resources has continued with their efforts to promote menstrual hygiene across the country.
In 2022, the company donated over 3000 sanitary pads to various schools on the Copperbelt and seeks to sustain such an important agenda.
The company has today donated over 5000 sanitary pads to Social media influencer, Mwizukanji in their quest to promote menstrual hygiene.
Speaking during the donation and handover of the sanitary pads,Vedanta Resources Social Media Strategist, Ms Kalaluka Mushaukwa on behalf of the company’s Director Coporate communications, Mr Masuzyo Ndhlovu,said the increased plight of disadvantaged young girls in vulnerable communities and their struggle to acquire sanitary pads cannot be overemphasised.
She said the company takes pride in supporting initiatives aimed at promoting the welfare of girls across the country.
Ms Mushaukwa said a lot of vulnerable women and girls who lack acces to menstrual hygiene due to lack of pads requires everyone’s support.
She further noted that lack of access to sanitary pads has led to girls dropping out of school, a situation she said is unfortunate and requires stakeholder support.
She said Vedanta therefore stands ready to partner with different stakeholders to help the girl child stay in school at all times through improved menstrual hygiene.
And Social media influencer, Mwizukanji, said the donation is not only timely, but very significant in the promotion of menstrual hygiene.
She said a lot of women and girls especially in rural areas are facing a lot of challenges in accessing saniraty pads, hence the need for stakeholders to emulate Vedanta to offer solutions in promoting menstrual hygiene.
