The Zambia Basketball Federation (ZBF) has appealed to government and the business community for support to raise K400,000 for the men and women’s national teams that are currently in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.

The money is meant to help the federation meet its financial obligation for the teams participating in the Zone VI Afrocan and AfroBasket qualifiers.
Before the teams’ departure for the tournament that commenced on 21st February, the National Sports Council of Zambia (NSCZ) confirmed it lacked funds for the teams’ outing.
The setback compelled
ZBF to source funds from well-wishers to facilitate the teams’ participation in the qualifiers event.

However, the finances raised were to last for only three days with hope of receiving more but all in vain.
The team and the technical have up to 28th February, 2023, to represent Zambia but now have no funds for food, accommodation and transportation to return home.
This is according to a statement released by the Zambia Basketball Federation Media and Marketing Director Danny Mwikisa.
