POLICE in Lundazi District have arrested Lumezi District Commissioner Jimmy Phiri for theft of Food Reserve Agency (FRA) and abuse of office offence.
Phiri, 50, has been arrested together with two other FRA workers for stealing 278 bags of maize.

“Police in Lundazi have charged and arrested Lumezi District Commissioner Jimmy Phiri aged 50 of Magodi compound for Abuse of Authority of Office contrary to section 99 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia. Mr. Phiri has also been jointly charged and arrested together with the two Food Reserve Agency (FRA) Depot Clerks identified as Mubanga Musoma aged 23 and Masiye Mbewe aged 46 all based at Chikomeni FRA Holding Depot for the offence of Theft by Public Servant contrary to section 277 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia,” Police Deputy Public Relations Officer Danny Mwale has disclosed.

Mwale has also stated that Phiri together with the FRA workers are detained in Police custody.
“The suspects are detained in Police custody waiting for court appearance,” said Mwale.
