A six-year-old girl has sustained bruises on her private parts after she was allegedly defiled by her 56-year-old step-grandfather in Ncholo Village, Nakonde.

Muchinga Province Police Commissioner Kaunda Mubanga reports that Charles Simpemba is said to have gone into the bush with the juvenile for charcoal burning, during which he had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.
Mubanga tells Byta FM Zambia that the victim was warned not to tell anyone, but was however traumatized and sat quietly home, which prompted her grandmother to inquire, after which she revealed what had happened.
He states that the grandmother took the victim to her neighbors where they inspected her and observed some bruises on the private parts that were consistent with defilement.
The Commissioner adds that when the grandmother returned home, the suspect had already parked his personal belongings and disappeared.
Mubanga states that the police have launched a manhunt for the suspect while the juvenile has been placed on Post Exposure Prophylaxis – PEP after the doctor’s findings were consistent with the alleged circumstances of defilement.
