Lumezi Town Council will this year execute fourteen (14) community projects at a cost of K15,359,410.30 under the 2023 Constituency Development Fund CDF disbursement.
This follows approval of recommended community projects by the Provincial CDF Committee at its sitting held on 15th May, 2023 pursuant to Cabinet Office Circular Minute No. CM01 of 2023.
Government in the 2023 CDF allocation increased the resources to K28.3 million from K25.7 million Kwacha last year. As a Local Authority, we believe this increase will be of great significance in our effort to expedite development in Lumezi.
The following are some of the community projects earmarked to be undertaken using the 2023 CDF allocation in Lumezi;
a) Installation of electricity to public institutions through the Rural Electrification Authority at K1 million.
b) Installation of a water reticulation system at Lumezi Sub-Centre at K2 million.
c) Construction of a Chief’s palace in Mwasemphangwe at K1 million through the Zambia Correctional Services.
d) Procurement of a brand new TLB all rounder machine.
e) Construction of maternity annexes at Katube Health Post, Sikatengwa Health Post and Chanyalubwe Health Post.
f) Grading of roads and creation of feeder roads.
g) Construction of two 1×3 classroom blocks at Kamkhongono and Kapongolo Primary Schools.
h) Procurement of about 4,000 additional school desks in response to the Presidential pronouncement that no pupil should sit on the floor by December this year.
The Council will in due course call for bids for contractors and suppliers to participate in tenders for the delivery of approved CDF community projects for the year 2023.
