A COMMUNITY school headmaster in Lusaka has landed himself in police detention after he turned up to write an examination on behalf of GCE candidate.
Christopher Lwele aged 34 of Kwashamukwenu Community Primary School in Matero presented a forged national registration card (NRC) for a GCE candidate before he was ushered to sit an English examination.
Apparently, Lwele had been paid K1,000 to write the examination on behalf of Nathan Sikabole, an employee at the National Registration Office in Kabompo District.
It is alleged that Sikabole having had easy access to the registration office, forged the NRC and provided it to Lwele so that he could escape the torment of writing composition and comprehension.
On Monday, all was set for a grand execution of a perfect plan for Sikabole to escape writing the Queens language laying his hopenow in Lwele to deliver a distinction at Kaunda Square Secondary School in Munali.
However, without knowing what gave him away, Lwele’s face seemed to have not been as smooth as Nathan’s as suspicions arose.
Prior to the exam Kaunda Square Secondary School head teacher, Grace Nakatunga Kapula, was tipped off of a person hired to write examination for a candidate.
Kapula’s senses tingled with a hint of foul play, embarked on an intensive investigation, unearthing an image of the actual candidate and weaving a web of caution around the name to trap the fraudster.
Zambia Police Service spokesperson Rae Hamoonga confirmed the incident.
“The Head Teacher conducted a background check on the registration process and obtained a facial image of the candidate. She then put a red alert on the name in preparation for the exam date and informed the Provincial Education Office,” said Hamoonga.
Lwele was later arrested and investigations are still ongoing.
