SOME teachers in Mazabuka applying to be considered under the ongoing recruitment by government have described the process as fast and efficient.

A check by Byta FM News at the Mazabuka Post Office found a number of applicants dropping their applications in the hope of being selected with the deadline slated for 4th October, 2023.

Some applicant who opted to remain anonymous, told Byta FM News that they are applying to different districts despite waiting for the vacancy list to be published.

They have complained that delays to publish the vacancies has disadvantaged some applicants as they are applying without post specifications.

Those interviewed have further attributed the low number of applicants to lack of zeal owing to reduced vacancies as out of the total number, 1, 000 positions will be composed of support staff.

Another applicant, Beenzu Natala, has however encouraged other unemployed teachers not to relent but try their luck by applying in this year’s teacher recruitment.

This year, Government through the Teaching Service Commission advertised for 4,500 teaching jobs in addition to the more than 30, 000 teacher recruitment done last year.

The recruitment is being done through a process of sending applications through the Postal Services Corporation, which has an online tracking system.
