She sustained injuries on her face, cuts on her head and a swollen left eye.

Deputy Police Public Relations Officer Danny Mwale says fists and kicks are believed to have been used to inflict the injuries.

Mwale says Police investigations revealed that the couple which has been on separation for some months, was jointly running a Liquor business in Lusaka West.

He said it is alleged that last month, the victim went to be with her parents in Choma, Southern Province and on October 25, 2023, she came back to check on the business which her husband was managing in her absence.

Mwale said it was during stocktaking that a fight ensued in the presence of bar patrons who were taking photographs instead of separating them.

He said the woman later reported the matter to Police and the husband followed who also complained of sustaining a swollen left leg and a fractured right hand.

Mwale said both were issued with Police medical report forms and were rushed to Nakachenje Mini Hospital for medical attention.

He said the man was attended to and later discharged the same day while the wife was referred to Kanyama Level One Hospital where she was admitted.

Mwale said she was discharged today around 09:00 hours adding that her condition is said to be stable.

He said, today, October 27, 2023 around 10:00 hours, the man was arrested and charged with the offence of Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm.

Mwale said the suspect will appear in court soon.
