IN an unexpected twist of fate, a 29-year-old Kitwe man has found himself in hot water after ‘accidentally’ hosting a ‘str!p show’ on WhatsApp, an incident that has led to his arrest and detention for allegedly circulating obscene material featuring his girlfriend.

The incident occurred on Saturday last week around 08:00 hours at White House Guest House in Old Ndeke Township in Kitwe.

The matter was initially reported to the police as a case of theft on Saturday, 22.10.23 at 00:40 hours, in which the 25 year old woman, a product promoter of a named company alleged that her former boyfriend she lived with and share two children posted her nak£d pictures on WhatsApp.

Copperbelt province police commanding officer Peacewell Mweemba said the victim said her unemployed former boyfriend Jeremiah Phiri 29 got her phone and forced her to undress, and took a couple of nude photographs of her which he later posted on her WhatsApp groups to the surprise of other group members, her workmates.

“Brief facts of the matter are that the complainant and the suspect now live apart due to misunderstandings. On Friday, 21.10.23 the complainant was on duty at Chamboli Market when at about 12:30 hours the suspect followed her and grabbed her by the hand, and took her to the guest house where he booked a room, locked the door and put the key in his pocket.

They engaged in verbal differences, after which the suspect grabbed the complainant’s smart phone and 0rdered her to undr£ss completely and jump on a bed and pause for nud£ pictures which he took using her phone, against her will,” he said.

Mr Mweemba said the two spent the night together and released her later the following morning, on Saturday, 22.10.23 around 08:00 hours.

He said the suspect then posted the pictures of the complainant in her nak£d state on her official WhatsApp group where her workmates saw them and informed her of the nud£s they saw.

Mr Mweemba said the suspect only pulled down the pictures after realising later, that he had made a ‘mistake’.

“A docket was opened and investigations into the matter instituted. During the course of investigations, police also seized the smart phone the suspect used to shoot and circulate the pictures and the same is kept as an exhibit,” he said.
