Zambia’s High Commissioner to the Republic of South Africa Her Excellency Mazuba Monze has hailed the hockey national teams currently in Pretoria, South Africa participating at the Paris 2024 Olympic qualifiers games.
Ms Monze says the Commission remains open for every Zambian visiting South Africa adding that the Hockey teams are representing the Country well in Pretoria.

She congratulated the women’s hockey team who recorded their first win at the games by beating Namibia 3-2 on Monday stating that the Commission is looking forward to seeing that the team reigns supreme at the end of the games. In addition, Ms Monze disclosed that the nation is in high spirit and anticipate a good performance as the team plays another game on Wednesday.

And Ms Monze counselled the men’s team who got knocked out of the race to the Paris 2024 Olympic qualifiers games after losing two games in a row. She further encouraged the team to use the experience acquired to do better shortly and in other upcoming prestigious games.

The two Hockey teams paid a courtesy call on the High Commissioner at the High Commission of the Republic of Zambia in Pretoria, South Africa on 31 October 2023.

Meanwhile, Delegation leader Patson Kawewe thanked Her Excellency for welcoming the athletes and officials to her office. Mr Kawewe promised the commissioner that he is confident the girls’ team will put up a good performance when meeting Ghana at 10:00hrs CAT.

Zambia Hockey Association Acting General Elvis Bwalya applauded the commissioner for the unwavering support the High Commission of the Republic of Zambia in Pretoria continues to render to the association whenever athletes are in that Country.

During the courtesy call two hockey players Shadrick Katele and Martha Kalomo called on the High Commissioner to find time to watch them play the games and boost their morale at Tuks Stadium.
