A 55-YEAR-OLD businessman of Choma has been sentenced to 30 years imprisonment with hard labour for repeatedly defiling his step-daughter while his 20-year-old son has been jailed 20 years for having unlawful carnal knowledge of the same girl in their home.
The girl, who plays football for a famous football club in Choma, was being defiled on different occasions by her step-father, step-brother and her uncle, who is yet to be arrested.
Livingstone High Court sentenced Joseph Bwalya and his son following their conviction for defilement by Choma Magistrate Court last year.
Magistrate Ethel Phiri found Bwalya and his son guilty and committed them to High Court for sentencing, saying that the State proved their case beyond reasonable doubt.

Details are that in the first count, Joseph, the step-father of the victim, on dates unknown but between December 1, 2022 and January 31, 2023, had unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl under the age of 16.
And in count two, Ben, the step-brother of the victim, on dates unknown but between July 1 and 31, 2022, had unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl under the age of 16.
