A 7-year-old girl of Livingstone’s Ngwenya Compound has sustained a painful vagina and anal area after she was allegedly defiled by her 50-year-old father.
The incident was reported at Mbita Police Post by 35-year-old mother to the victim on March 18, 2024, with the act said to have occurred two days prior.
Southern Province Commissioner of Police, Auxensio Daka, notes that on the fateful day, the victim who stays with her mother and 70-year-old grandmother, was left in the custody of the latter while the mother left for work.
Daka explains that around 09:00 hours on the same day, the victim decided to go and visit her father who divorced her mother four years ago and only returned around 18:00 hours.
He says the girl confided in a Whistle Blower that she was feeling pain around the anal area, who then alerted the mother.
Daka states that the juvenile was taken to Ngwenya Clinic and after examinations, the mother was advised to report the case to Police since the nature of the complaint was Gender Based Violence-GBV related.
He says Police issued the victim with a Medical Report Form which was presented at Livingstone University Teaching Hospital for further examination and management.
By broadcast time, Daka noted that no arrest had been made yet.
