Financial stress crippling cake industry – Austin Cakes
By Francis Chipalo
Financial stress has crippled and frozen many businesses including the cake industry, Austin Cakes CEO Austin Mwale has stated.
And Mwale says load shedding is the biggest challenge that the baking industry is facing.
Mwale says continuous power outages have made it hard to handle multiple orders.
He has however urged players in the industry to plan ahead if they are to thrive in the business.
Meanwhile, Mwale stated that the baking industry has not been spared by financial stress that have hindered it’s growth.
Mwale has since urged players in the business to come together and share knowledge on how they can help one another.
He made the remarks at the 3rd edition of the Bakers Conference held in Lusaka this morning.
“Baking is not just a craft or a trade, but an art, a science and business, all rolled into one,” he stated.
Speaking at the same event, Diligent Health Initiative Executive Director, Dr. Kalasa Mwanda says the cake baking industry has potential to thrive and prosper.
Dr. Kalasa says, by harnessing passion, creativity and resilience, players can build successful businesses that will have a positive impact on communities world over.
The conference brought together hundreds of players in the cake baking industry with an aim of knowledge sharing for the growth of the industry.
