POLICE ARREST FAKE POLICE IG
The Zambia Police Service has confirmed the apprehension of an individual for identity theft and fraud, after falsely claiming to be Graphael Musamba, the current Inspector General of Police.
According to Police Spokesperson Rae Haamonga, on May 10, 2024, at around 17:45 hours, officers detained a 23-year-old man from Chilanga District.
The arrest was linked to a fraudulent Facebook account that impersonated the Inspector General of the Zambia Police Service.
The accused, Keith Zephaniah Mvula, allegedly used this account to defraud individuals by soliciting funds under the guise of offering employment opportunities, directing them to transfer money to his personal bank account.
Currently held at Ridgeway Police Post, Mvulaās arrest serves as a stark reminder of the Zambia Police Serviceās dedication to eradicating cybercrime and fraud.
Haamonga has urged the public to remain alert and report any dubious online activities to the authorities promptly.
