GOVERNMENT will this year employ 4,000 health workers adding to the over 17,000 workers that have already been employed in the past two years.

Lusaka Province Minister Sheal Mulyata said Government is also currently dismantling debt owed to nurses and other health workers.

Speaking during the commemoration of the International Nurses’ Day, Mrs Mulyata applauded the health workers for their efforts during the cholera pandemic.

“Nurses play a crucial role in the attainment of universal health access for all. Their efforts during the cholera pandemic cannot go overlooked as they saved lives of others while risking theirs,” she said.

Mrs Mulyata said Government was aware of the challenges faced in the health care system which range from resource constraints to manpower shortages.
