Two Zambian taekwondo players are on their way to Senegal for a ten-day Africa Taekwondo Union training camp organized by World Taekwondo.

The two judokas are Tukuza Maseko and Mathews Sichula who have been accompanied by their coach Jathel Simwinga.

Zambia Taekwondo Federation president Likando Nangonde has confirmed that one of the players is a beneficiary of the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge which the OYDC Zambia manages and has been running at the sports facility since 2011 supported by Coen Teulings Chairman of Merifin Capital in Belgium.

Nangonde says programmes like the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge continue to nurture many athletes in the country at the grassroots level who in turn end up representing Zambia at various competitions.

He says the essence of sending these players to Senegal for a training camp is to equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge which they can come and use on their fellow players back home.

He pays gratitude to the National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) who have facilitated the travel of the athletes and their coach to Senegal.

Meanwhile, Nangonde has disclosed that the federation is expecting positive results once the training camp is done for the betterment of the sport which he says helps many children refrain from indulging in bad vices in communities as it continues to instill discipline in many children who use facilities such as the OYDC Zambia to train.
