Senior Chief Nkula of the Bemba-speaking people honoured the Two-day ‘Upa Ngoma Regional Principality’ of Barotseland inaugural Cultural Festival at Naliele Palace in Kaoma District, Western Province, as the Guest of Honour.
The Bemba Royal Prince, Dr. Fred M’membe, was also recognized by the Leadership of Barotseland.
The strengthening of the Bemba – Lozi relationship persists following Litunga’s invitation of Mwine Lubemba, Paramount Chief Chitimukulu of the Bemba-speaking people of Northern Zambia.
In his address at the ceremony, Chief Nkula emphasized that the culture and heritage of the people encompass the cultural performing arts of singing, dancing, and drama.
He also noted the exhibition of diverse African indigenous food dishes, which symbolize the roots and future of the African people.
Chief Nkula paid tribute to Dr. Akashambatwa Mbikusita Lewanika, who was officially installed as the Senior Chief for Naliele Palace, located in Kaoma District.
Senior Chief Lewanika’s territory encompasses three districts: Nkeyema, Kaoma, and Luampa.
He is a distinguished politician, academician, historian, and author, and his appointment follows the passing of his predecessor, Senior Chief Isiteketo Amukena.
