A 36-year-old man of Choma’s Mapanza Chiefdom has succumbed to the lethal effects of a locally brewed beer, Chijaba.
The incident surfaced when Miyanda Milimo, aged 47, distressingly conveyed the lifeless body of his nephew, Briven Milimo, to the hospital.
Southern Province Commissioner of Police, Auxensio Daka tells Byta FM Zambia that the victim’s uncle was alerted by a Clinical Officer from Mangunza Clinic on the 22nd of May about his nephew’s dire state.
It was reported that the young man suffered blindness, respiratory distress, and intense vomiting.
Despite urgent medical attention and a subsequent transfer to Macha Mission Hospital, the victim’s condition deteriorated rapidly, leading to his untimely demise upon arrival at the hospital.
