TWO DEAD, THREE INJURED IN KALOMO ROAD ACCIDENT

Two people have tragically lost their lives, and three others are currently nursing serious injuries following a traffic accident in Kalomo.

The incident involved an overspeeding south-bound Toyota Hilux vehicle belonging to the Ministry of Health.

The accident occurred on Sunday afternoon around 16:35 hours along the Great North Road at Macronis Farm area.

The driver, identified as Hyden Hamapande (34) from Mtendere East in Lusaka, lost control of the vehicle due to excessive speed, resulting in it overturning.

The deceased passengers include Catherine Nkunika (47) from State House Compound in Lusaka, who sustained fatal head injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Kalomo Urban Clinic.

The other victim is 23-year-old Mayor Chiseya from Chilenje Compound in Lusaka.

Mayor Chiseya suffered both leg fractures and head injuries, and unfortunately, he also lost his life at Kalomo Clinic.

Among those receiving medical treatment are Joseph Mukwasa Lubilo (56) from Ng’ombe Compound in Lusaka, who sustained head cuts and general body pains.

Kolina Simukama (24) from Kaunda Square in Lusaka is also being treated for neck, chest, and general body pains.

Southern Province Commissioner of Police, Auxensio Daka, reports that the driver is currently admitted to Kalomo Urban Clinic, experiencing chest pains and general body discomfort.

The authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding this tragic accident.
