ARREST OF THE RING LEADER OF JUNKIES IN DESAI COMPOUND
July 21,2024-Matero Police Station has today, July 21,2024, at approximately 10:30 hours, arrested the notorious ring leader of the junkies, male Elton Mwendo, commonly known as “Chaku”, aged 26, of house number 511/01 Desai Compound, Matero.
Brief facts of the matter are that today, the July 21,2024, between 09:00 hours and 10:30 hours, the suspect, being the ring leader, led his group known as “Chipandule” and caused chaos by indiscriminately beating people and throwing stones at moving vehicles. They also engaged in a violent altercation with another group of junkies called “NBA” (Never Broke Again), creating a situation of intense public fear as the two groups hurled stones at each other.
The police swiftly responded and successfully apprehended the ring leader. This group of junkies has been terrorizing the Desai community for some time.
Elton Mwendo has since been detained in police lawful custody on charges of aggravated robbery. Members of the public who were attacked by this group are urged to come forward to assist with identification parades and further investigations.
The Zambia Police Service remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and will continue to take decisive action against any individuals or groups that threaten public peace and order.
