SIMON MWANSA KAPWEPWE MUSEUM OPENED

(ZANIS) The family of late politician Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe have opened a historical museum in his honour at their family farm in Chinsali District of Muchinga Province.

The museum has put on display materials depicting the life history of the late Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe in pictures, text, his published books, and a collection of personal furniture and other arts.

Chief NKULA graced the museum’s opening, which was also attended by Chief NYAMPHANDE of the Nsenga people in Petauke District of Eastern Province.

Speaking after unveiling the plaque, Chief NKULA described the late Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe as a freedom fighter, a patriot and a fearless man.

He said the late Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe was also a good governance activist and traditionalist who believed in the respect of humankind.

Mr Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe was a freedom fighter who became Zambia’s first Prime Minister , Minister of Finance in 1967 and served in other senior portfolios .

Chinsali Acting District Commissioner BRENDA SILWEMBE said the Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe museum will serve as a repository of history, a celebration of his achievement and an inspiration to the future generations.

And CHILESHE KAPWEPWE, daughter to late Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe, said her father was a very principled man with clear values and beliefs.
