Detained Independent Broadcasting Authority –IBA- Management Accountant FRANCIS CHIPYOKA has withdrawn his application for Habeas Corpus.

Mr. CHIPYOKA is detained, following the murder of IBA Director General GUNTILA MULEYA.

He withdrew his application to obtain leave to apply for habeas Corpus, having been charged last Friday.

Mr. CHIPYOKA has been charged with the murder of Mr. MULEYA contrary to section 200 of the Penal Code Chapter 87.

However, prior to being slapped with the murder charge, Mr. CHIPYOKA on July 30, 2024, sought leave to apply for a writ of Habeas Corpus.

He contended that he had been detained since July 28, 2024, without being charged or presented before the Court.

This was according to Affidavit in support of an exparte Summon for leave to issue a Writ of Habeas Corpus, filed in the LUSAKA High Court.

The affidavit was filed by Mr. CHIPYOKA’s lawyer FRIDAY MULENGA-Junior.
