Make Way Zambia Project Accountant Erica Chanda has disclosed that sexual harassment involving tribal cousinship in Zambia is rampant but yet unnoticed.

Chanda notes that certain behaviors involving tribal cousinship commonly known as “chimbuya” are a source of concern as they encourage sexual harassment.

She says unfortunately, people have ignored the issues but have taken them to be normal when infact not.

Chanda has since called for the need to raise awareness levels on the issue by all stakeholders among them, traditional leaders, the church as well as among families.

She was speaking in an interview with Lusaka Radio news on the sidelines of the Circle of Concerned African Women Theologians workshop that brought together members of the clergy, Civil Society Organizations, Youths and the media.

The workshop looked at best ways of having conversations around Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights especially among young people.
