Zambia’s Green Living Movement (GLM) Team Leader Emmanuel Mutamba has paid tribute to Oak Foundation for building capacity in Zambian Civil Society Organizations to respond to climate change.

Mr Mutamba assured Oak Foundation that GLM will meet the deadlines for finalizing templates set by the Foundation to submit documents and reports.

He said this in Lusaka during a Capacity-building Needs Assessment Workshop supported by Oak Foundation and facilitated by Khomotayon Consulting Services.

The GLM Team Leader thanked Oak Foundation for helping GLM identify gaps and grow into a stronger organization.

Mr Mutamba emphasized the importance of GLM’s ability to deliver services to communities to improve their welfare adding that it should grow further to have adequate resources to work effectively.

The GLM Team Leader acknowledged that while the organization has the desired ambition, it may not achieve much with inadequate resources.

He noted that the Oak Foundation has allowed GLM to learn how to best raise resources.

Mr Mutamba mentioned that the gathering also addressed the issue of monitoring and evaluation to assess GLM’s progress towards achieving its goals.

He stressed the need for GLM to develop a comprehensive and robust monitoring and evaluation framework.

Mr Mutamba pointed out that previously, different projects had varied methods of monitoring and evaluation.

He observed that a new monitoring and evaluation framework will ensure all projects adhere to one standard.

At the same function, Khomotayon Consulting Services Lead Consultant Givas Goteka expressed confidence in GLM’s ability to move to the next level.

He emphasized that the support from Khomotayon Consulting Services will continue beyond the workshop, extending until the presentations for organizational capacity development plans in October.

Mr Goteka outlined the next steps, starting with the drafting of organizational capacity assessment reports.

He said the drafts should be shared with Khomotayon Consulting Services in the next few days for review.

Mr Goteka said any comments or feedback will be addressed, and the drafts will be revised accordingly.

“Once the assessment reports are approved, the next stage involves drafting organizational capacity development plans. This process will also involve sharing drafts, receiving feedback, and making necessary revisions until comprehensive and objective documents are finalized,” he said.

Mr Goteka highlighted that once the documents are complete, the organization will be ready for presentations and for the Oak Foundation to make decisions on the next steps.
