APPREHENSION OF FOUR ZIMBABWEAN NATIONALS FOR THEFT FROM MOTOR VEHICLES
September 13, 2024-Woodlands Police Station successfully apprehended four Zimbabwean nationals yesterday September 12, 2024 at 13:00 hours in connection with a series of thefts from motor vehicles.
The suspects, identified as:
1. Prince Dube, male, aged 32, of Libala South.
2. George Chuma, male, aged 49, of Libala South.
3. Fortune Maswabi, male, aged 43, of Libala South.
4. Mudududzi Moyo, male, aged 40, of Chalala.
were apprehended while using a grey Toyota Mark X with registration number BCE 5455.
Upon conducting a search of the vehicle, the following items were discovered:
• A set of number plates bearing registration number CAE 3495, which matched the numbers on the motor vehicle’s road tax disc,
• A drilling machine,
• A riveting machine,
• Three double-sided tapes, and
• Rivets.
These individuals have been linked to multiple recent thefts from motor vehicles at shopping malls in the Woodlands, Kabulonga, and other areas of Lusaka.
Notable incidents include:
1. Theft from Motor Vehicle on July 25, 2024:
At around 16:20 hours at Puma Filling Station, Long acres, Mr. Kelvin Phiri aged 37, a ZAF officer, reported that unknown persons broke into his white Toyota Allion registration number BCG 4532 where K305,000, which he had withdrawn from Access Bank Long acres for his employers, was stolen. The suspects were seen driving a white Toyota Mark X.
2. Theft from Motor Vehicle on June 1, 2024: Around 09:30 hours at Lewanika Mall traffic lights, Mr. Christopher Chitambala aged 52, reported that unknown persons broke into his Toyota Hilux and stole K130,621. The suspects were driving a white Toyota Mark X registration number BLA 3440.
3. Theft from Motor Vehicle on August 23, 2024: At around 15:50 hours at Kings Highway, SDA New Kasama, Mr. Joseph Ngosa aged 61, reported that his Mercedes Benz registration number BAH 2122 was broken into, and K50,000, which he had withdrawn from Cosmopolitan Mall, was stolen. The suspects were again seen driving a white Toyota Mark X.
CCTV footage from the various crime scenes has been reviewed, and the suspects match the individuals depicted in these recordings. Investigations are ongoing, with several more dockets under review, all containing similar facts.
The Zambia Police Service remains committed to ensuring the safety of all residents and will continue to pursue criminals involved in such activities. We urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or post.
