A man from Mazabuka is in critical condition after sustaining body cuts and bruises following an attack by his intoxicated wife.
The 26-year-old victim, Titus Cheelo from Nakambala Compound, is set to be referred to the University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka from Mazabuka General Hospital.
The incident occurred around 03:00 hours on Monday, when the suspect, Precious Chilimuka, aged 24, attacked her husband as he opened the door for her after she returned home from a drinking spree.
Southern Province Commissioner of Police, Auxensio Daka, reported that the suspect used a knife concealed in her bra to attack her husband.
The reason for the attack is yet to be established.
Daka stated that the victim sustained a cut on the lower left jaw, bruises on the right arm, and general body pains. The suspect is currently in police custody.
