Police in Mpika have launched a manhunt for 49-year-old Innocent Chanda, who allegedly axed Charles Chanda’s face in a fit of jealousy.
The incident occurred in Kaole Village on Monday, after the now suspect discovered his ex-wife, Angela Mukungule, had remarried Charles Chanda.
According to reports, Mr Chanda had previously divorced Ms. Mukungule and had his dowry returned to him.
However, upon learning she had remarried, he became enraged.
Armed with an axe, he confronted the victim and axed him on the face, leaving him with deep cuts.
Muchinga Province Police Commissioner Dennis Moola has confirmed the incident to Chete FM.
Commissioner Moola says the victim is currently receiving treatment at Chilonga Mission Hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
