The Mazabuka Magistrate Court has sentenced a 29-year-old man from Magoye to 9 months imprisonment with hard labor after he admitted to breaking into a building.

Bowa Kakoma was charged with the offense of breaking into a building, contrary to Section 304 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

According to court records, on 22nd September 2024, a Security Officer on duty at Magoye Primary School heard a strange noise from the storeroom around 03:00 hours.

When he investigated, he found Kakoma’s torso inside the room, with his legs hanging outside, having accessed the room through the window.

The Security Officer pulled Kakoma down by his legs, and the two tussled on the ground as Kakoma tried to escape.

The guard restrained him and called for help.

The School Headteacher and his Deputy arrived shortly after and discovered that Kakoma had entered by removing the iron sheet covering the window.
