Yusuf Bhagoo, a renowned business leader from Mazabuka, was laid to rest on Sunday evening at Namulonga Cemetery, following his passing on Sunday morning at the age of 76.
Hundreds of mourners from various sectors of society attended his funeral, including prominent businessmen from Lusaka and the across the region.
Byta FMs Evans Liyali reports that the funeral service reflected Bhagoo’s strong faith and community ties, beginning with congregational prayers at Namulonga Mosque.
Many notable figures were in attendance, such as Mazabuka Central Constituency UPND Chairperson Skinner Pasi, Mazabuka Central Councilor Chrispine Hamangaba, and UPND Youth Chairperson Bright Hamwenda.
Commercial farmers led by Guy Robinson and local business leaders led by Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Mukela Muyunda also paid their respects.
Bhagoo’s legacy is marked by his chairmanship of Bhagoos Group of Companies (BGC), a conglomerate with diverse interests in agriculture, transportation and real estate.
As one of Mazabuka’s major employers and contributors to the local economy, BGC has also initiated several charitable projects, including community development initiatives and borehole drilling.
Muyunda described Yusuf’s passing as a significant loss to the business community, praising his entrepreneurial spirit, vision and commitment to development in Mazabuka.
