A delegation from Japan’s Ministry of Defence, led by Major Hidenao Kawanishi of the Ground Self-Defense Force (SDF), today, 31 October 2024, paid a courtesy call on the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Graphel Musamba, at his office.
In a speech read on his behalf by the Deputy Inspector General of Police for Operations, Milner Muyambango, Mr. Musamba expressed gratitude to the Japanese government for its positive contributions toward capacity building within the Zambia Police Service.
The Police Chief highlighted Japan’s role in equipping Zambian officers with valuable skills and fostering a culture of discipline and resilience.
“The longstanding cooperation between our nations is marked by mutual respect and shared values, aimed at advancing peace, security, and socio-economic development,” stated Mr. Musamba, adding that the visit symbolised the enduring partnership between Zambia and Japan.
“I have no doubt that together, we can build upon our shared achievements and set a forward-looking agenda for our security partnership,” Mr. Musamba continued.
In response, Major Kawanishi applauded Zambia for its stable security environment, crediting the Zambia Police Service’s role in maintaining law and order.
“The Zambia Police plays a pivotal role in fostering security across the nation,” he said.
Major Kawanishi also emphasized the importance of strengthening communication channels between the two countries to ensure effective responses to any potential emergencies.
The courtesy call signifies the commitment of both Zambia and Japan to collaborate on security initiatives and fortify their longstanding partnership.
