CHINESE ASSOCIATION TOASTS 60th CHINA – ZAMBIA RELATIONSHIP IN STYLE

CONTINUOUS applauds from the audience was what characterized the 60th anniversary celebrations of China – Zambia diplomatic relationship art performance at the Golden Peacock Hotel in Lusaka.

Zambia and China on 29th of October, 2024 clocked 60 years of bilateral friendship.

As Zambia celebrated her golden jubilee independence, the Zambia – Chinese Association organized a colorful art performance to toast the six decades of mutually beneficial economic relations between the two countries.

Gracing the occasion, Local government and rural development minister Garry Nkombo said it was gratifying that China has continued being an “all weather friend” of Zambia even despite challenging times.

Nkombo said China’s support to Zambia in major sectors such as energy, mining, agriculture and infrastructure cannot go unrecognized, adding that China had demonstrated true commitment as a partner to Zambia’s development.

And speaking earlier, Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Han Jing encouraged Chinese companies to positively give back to communities they operate from.

Jing disclosed that Zambia became the first country in Southern Africa to establish diplomatic ties with China, and therefore, China considered Zambia as a serious partner in development.

The ambassador thanked the Zambia – Chinese Association for organizing the event which he said promotes cultural exchanges between Zambia and China.

Meanwhile, the audience was treated to some exciting Chinese performances among them, martial arts Shaolin Kung Fu, Wu Opera dubbed “three triumphs over skeletal demon” as well the “9 – pierced segmented dragon” traditional performances, sending the audience to Live Chinese cinema.

Minister of Arts, Youth and Sport Elvis Nkandu together with his PS Chama Fumba also witnessed the event that was also attended by other high ranking senior government officials as well as hundreds of Zambians and Chinese in the spirit of Unity with the “One Zambia One Nation” slogan closing the show.
