The government has disclosed plans to construct sports complexes in all 156 constituencies across the country.
Minister of Youth, Sport and Arts, Elvis Nkandu, announced this development in Mazabuka on Monday during the handover of empowerment packages to young people in the district.
He stated that the undertaking will be financed through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to ensure that those actively involved in sports are not left behind in benefiting from government initiatives.
Nkandu expressed confidence that, once achieved, the sports complexes will enhance talent identification in rural areas.
He added that the government envisions a scenario where every constituency will have adequate sporting facilities by 2028 for various disciplines such as football, netball, volleyball, basketball, and athletics.
Meanwhile, Magoye Member of Parliament, Mweemba Malambo, called for corporate sponsorship in the development of sports in the area.
