Three people, who include a Zambia National Service -ZNS- Officer, have been apprehended in Mazabuka district, in connection with production of FAKE whiskey.
Southern Province Police Commanding Officer, AUXENSIO DAKA has confirmed, saying the suspects were apprehended in Nakambala compound around 01:30 hours on Saturday.
Mr DAKA says this was during patrols after police received a tip that there were people in Nakambala compound, producing FAKE beer, namely First Choice Whiskey.
He has identified the suspects as ETHEN PATULANI CHILONGO, male aged 42, who is a ZNS Warrant Officer Class 2, based at Chiwoko ZNS camp in Katete, Eastern province.
Others are ESTELLA BANDA, female aged 35, and CHRISPINE CHANDA, male aged 32, both from Chawama compound in Lusaka.
Mr DAKA says police have recovered 20 boxes of suspected FAKE First Choice Whiskey, 3 sacks of empty bottles of First Choice Whiskey as well as other empty boxes of other beer brands.
He has explained that the suspects have been detained to help with further investigations.
