IT’S a story that has gotten everyone talking – a two-month-old baby who is reportedly able to talk, calling its mother by name and asking her to lift it or feed it.
The “talking” baby – who is named James – has now been taken into protective custody by the Department of Social Welfare.
The story broke on Sunday after the Sunday Mail reported the bizarre incident that happened in Chikonkoto village in Chongwe district.
A source from the Department of Child Development, which is under the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services, Chongwe Central Ward councillor Thomas Sakala, and village secretary Edmond Matambo confirmed the development in separate interviews yesterday.
“As we speak now, officers from the Social Welfare Department have come to get the mother and her baby. Before they are taken to a safe place, the baby has to first be examined at Chongwe District Hospital, but I can confirm that, yes, the talking baby and his mother Alice have been taken to a safe place by Government,” Mr Sakala said.
