New York – Dr. Davies Chirwa, an internationally recognized media executive, producer, and philanthropist based in Washington State, has been named to the Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD) Class of 2025, under the Philanthropy and Social Impact Edition. The honor places Dr. Chirwa among a distinguished global list of leaders recognized for creating lasting positive impact in their communities and beyond.

MIPAD is a global civil society initiative in support of the United Nations International Decade for People of African Descent (2015–2024). Each year, the organization celebrates 100 influential individuals from around the world who are of African descent and under 40 — as well as honorary mentions — across four categories: Politics & Governance, Business & Entrepreneurship, Media & Culture, and Philanthropy & Humanitarianism.

Dr. Chirwa’s recognition in the Philanthropy and Social Impact category highlights his extensive work in cultural diplomacy, youth empowerment, and international media development. As the Founder and CEO of Channel A TV, a U.S.-based global media platform, Dr. Chirwa has led groundbreaking coverage of prestigious world events including the Grammy Awards, The Oscars, BET Awards, MTV Awards, and the NFL Super Bowl. Through this work, he has consistently used media to amplify African excellence, talent, and storytelling on a global stage.

In addition to his media success, Dr. Chirwa is the founder and executive producer of the African Achievement Awards, an annual event honoring individuals of African descent who are making exceptional contributions in leadership, education, fashion, entrepreneurship, community service, and entertainment. Held in Seattle since 2019, the awards ceremony has become a symbol of unity and pride for the African diaspora in the Pacific Northwest.

“I’m deeply honored to be part of this prestigious global list,” said Dr. Chirwa. “MIPAD is more than a recognition — it’s a reminder of the responsibility we have to lift up our communities, inspire the next generation, and continue telling stories that matter.”

Dr. Chirwa has also been a visible advocate for African representation in global media, using Channel A TV as a platform for mentorship, public service, and cross-cultural engagement. His philanthropic initiatives and community outreach efforts have made him a respected voice among African leaders in the diaspora.

MIPAD, which has been featured on CNN International and other major outlets, continues to expand its influence by connecting honorees with leadership networks and decision-making spaces around the world. The organization’s mission is to accelerate recognition and representation of African descendants across all spheres of influence.
