HON. NKANDU CHAMPIONS REGIONAL UNITY AT NAMIBIA’S INCLUSION AND SUSTAINABILITY FORUM

Windhoek, Namibia – 6 July 2025 – The Zambian Government has reaffirmed its commitment to regional collaboration and inclusive development at the inaugural Inter-Ministerial Forum on Inclusion and Sustainability held in Windhoek, Namibia.

Hon. Elvis Nkandu MP

Representing the African Union Sports Council Region 5, Hon. Nkandu joined fellow ministers and senior officials from across Southern Africa at the high-level event, which brought together the Education, Health, and Sport sectors under the banner of multisectoral partnership for inclusive growth and environmental sustainability.

The forum, held alongside the Region 5 Youth Games, was officially opened by Prime Minister Dr. Elijah T. Ngurare, who delivered a keynote address on behalf of President Nangolo Mbumba. The Prime Minister called for urgent, coordinated action among governments.

In his vote of thanks on behalf of the Region 5 Council, Hon. Nkandu praised the Namibian Government for its hospitality and strong leadership. He hailed the forum as a “launchpad for practical, measurable change” and commended the collaborative spirit that defined the discussions.

The Minister further highlighted the significance of the forum’s timing, aligning with Namibia’s forthcoming National Development Plan 6 (NDP6) and key regional efforts such as the promotion of green technologies, disability inclusion, climate-smart agriculture, and a 2.5 million tree regional planting campaign.

Hon. Nkandu’s participation reaffirmed Zambia’s leadership and active role in regional development dialogues, particularly through the lens of sport, youth engagement, and inter-ministerial cooperation.
